MENTOR 7 Light – Hybrid 2.5-liner

全新特点

混合型2.5组绳设计MENTOR 7 Light在两侧翼尖处是两组绳,在中间是三组绳。也就是说这个“2.5组绳”没有C3伞绳。巧妙重新分布的伞绳连接点,再加上针对加速飞行而优化的翼型,造就了MENTOR 7 Light这款越野快伞,飞起来舒适,并有潜力打破纪录。与此同时,飞行中的安全性和平稳性保持了MENTOR系列的典型特征,因而认证结果也是EN B级别。

Ferdi Vogel wins the Zillertal Battle 2022

NOVA test and team pilot Ferdinand Vogel won the Zillertal Battle 2022 with the MENTOR 7 Light. In this event, only wings with EN/LTF A or B certification are permitted. Top pilots compete under the current gliders, with differences in performance becoming particularly obvious.

Ferdi says about the wing: "I had a clear advantage when gliding fast in rough air. The outstanding performance of the MENTOR 7 Light allowed me to win both tasks. This glider will set new XC records."

"Everything about the Mentor 7 Light is designed for the highest possible XC potential and stability. This is where I see the target group: if you are looking for a thoroughbred XC mile-eater with which you can be blown into vicious lees, which you can also accelerate mercilessly in moving air and on which you can rely when the wind blows hard, then you can eye up this wing. In this respect, it is made for brave ridge riders and leeside thermal crankers of the Alps. Conversely, anyone who flies in thermally weak areas, like in the flatlands, has to figure out exactly whether their "seat-of-the-pants feel" is sensitive enough to know when to pull their lines. The Mentor 7 Light is more of a jet than a sailplane."

"This evolution of the line-concept offers many advantages. I am betting on a generalization of the concept on our future leisure wings. Learning to fly on incidence, through this wing with moderate aspect ratio, allows a smooth migration to even more efficient wings. A wing of this style clearly demonstrates its performance potential (already flights of more than 250 km...) while maintaining a relaxed feel. This is one of the wings that will lead to a series of wings that are more powerful, more accessible and more solid at the same time. I loved to fly the first bubbles of the morning with precision, to pull the thermals with a turn that can be screwed in easily, to be hit with laughter. This kind of wing will delight a large public eager for pleasure and good performance that can be easily achieved."

Review - Cross Country

In their latest edition, XC mag are reviewing out Hybrid 2.5-Liner MENTOR 7 Light. Here is the summary of the test. Thanks to Bastienne and Ed for letting us share this.

"The MENTOR 7 Light earned our trust over many flights in difficult conditions. Being so easy to fly, it saves the pilot a lot of energy, making long XC flights less exhausting and thus safer. The technology sounds impressive and during a first demo flight you might be intimidated. But it is really a benign high-B glider, especially for the performance it provides on full bar. A big plus is the handling: it has all the advantages of easier handling of a lighter wing, but none of the disadvantages such as a delicate build or jumpy behaviour. NOVA have announced a full-fat version will arrive later. The only difference will be heavier, abrasion-resistant fabric for use on less forgiving launches than grassy hills. Other than that, we really don't know what one could possibly want different in a full-fat MENTOR 7."

B3失速更加稳定,且下沉率更大。经典的“大耳朵”仍然可以使用,但由于A组组带并没有将外侧伞绳单独分出来,所以“大耳朵”并不太舒服。

The MENTOR 7 Light climbs well even when flown at the higher end of the weight range. Therefore, after intensive flight tests, we have extended our usual weight ranges for sizes XXS, XS, S and M upwards by 5 kg. On epic days, this can be used to fly a high average speed.
