CRAFT was founded in 1977 in Borås (Sweden) and has specialized in technical sportswear (first layer, bike, run, and XC-ski). The company is famous as a pioneer in performance baselayers and is today one of the world's leading brands. At the NOVA Pilots Team we particularly like the baselayers for XC flying and the running wear for vol-biv and hike & fly.

GARMIN is THE specialist for navigation worldwide – on the road, in the air, on sea or for athletes. Although the company doesn’t manufacture special instruments for paraglider pilots, the InReach devices are of particular interest for XC-pilots, hike & fly or vol-biv. They provide live-tracking and two-way short messages communication via the reliable Iridium satellite network. Also recommended: the handheld GPS-devices and sports watches such as the Fenix series.

From now on Recco Advanced Rescue Technology supports the NOVA Pilots Team and equips the pilots with RECCO reflectors for their (cross-country) flights. Originally developed for the search of avalanche victims, the Swedish Company introduced a more powerful device a few years ago, that is operated from a chopper, the SAR Helicopter Detector. More and more rescue helicopters are now being equipped with it and allowing professional rescuers to perform rapid searches for missing people in the outdoors year-round at a speed of around 100 km/h. A real plus in safety for paraglider pilots too! Read how and where it works at

Thermixc is a really powerful online planning tool for XC pilots, created by our friend and NOVA Pilot Bernd Gassner. It unites all the features from the XC planner with thermal information from TherMap, KK7 and XC.DHV.de. Thermixc offers various useful filters, displays most legal launch sites and landings, it's free to use and has instructions in English and German. We love it!

The VIENTO Valley Wind Map is a project of NOVA Team pilot Werner Luidolt and his glider plane  buddy Simon Lemmerer. Their valley wind map reaches from the eastern end of the Alps far into Switzerland (Aletsch Glacier), showing the usual valley wind systems, thermal hotspots and typical lee areas. A multitude of launch-sites including their take-off directions and important alpine passes with their altitude are also featured. on the map. It’s outstandingly useful tool for XC-pilots.

ZANIER is a family-business based in Tyrol, just like NOVA. The company has been manufacturing gloves for winter, summer and mountain sports since 1969. For a couple of years now they also make gloves for hang-gliding and paragliding. The glove specialist strives for high standards in innovation, materials, functionality as well as excellent workmanship. As a family-run company with a long tradition, ZANIER is deeply rooted in the beautiful mountains of the Austrian Alps and takes its responsibility for sustainability and environmental protection extremely seriously. The gloves for aviation are – just like all other ZANIER products and the company itself – 100% carbon neutral. The members of the NOVA Pilots Team mainly use the Aviator GTX (electrically heated - the dream on long cross-country flights!) and Tour models.
